symbolism in the wizard of oz cake

This delicious cake with a yellow staircase leads to the wizard of Oz. Each layer shows her adventure and gives us a lesson on symbols.
First of all, the bottom layer symbolizes Dorothy Gale’s dress and sparkly red shoes. She taps the shoes together and says “there’s no place like home.”
In the second layer, the soft pastel colours represent the dress of Glinda the good witch of the north when she gives Dorothy the sparkly red shoes.
The third layer shows when Dorothy is following the yellow bricked road to meet the Great Wizard of Oz and is passing the the cornfield and she meets the scarecrow and she tells him that she wants to go to her house and he tells her he himself wants to have a brain so he could think so she tells him to come along.
In the third layer shows when Dorothy and the Scarecrow are by the  dense forest and Dorothy sees apples and goes to get them and meets the tin woodman who was caught in the rain and is rusty and they oil him and he says he wishes he had a heart so they take him along as well.
The fifth layer shows when the cowardly lion affronts them and Dorothy slaps and he starts crying and is ashamed of himself and tells Dorothy, the scarecrow and tin woodman and only hopes he was as brave as any other lion and they all go to visit the wizard of Oz.
The sixth layer shows when they are in the field of roses and after see the wicked witch of the west. The witch then kidnaps Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the tin woodman and the cowardly lion go in as guards to save Dorothy. Dorothy kills the wicked with by throwing a bucket of water on her.
The last layer shows when they go visit the great wizard of oz and he explains to the scarecrow that he has a brain otherwise he wouldn’t have done that and the tin man he has a heart as how he was to the group of friends and the cowardly lion he he is brave or else he couldn’t have been able to do all that and at last he tells Dorothy Gale how to get back home to Kansas.

Good thing she didn’t drool,
So she always scratches her brother Lukey!

Embarrassing stories (by Jacqueline, Nadia and Sam)

Airport Accident

Last summer when I was returning from Hawaii I had a little accident at the baggage area….. it was really late at night and I was about to drift off, but right then the plane landed. It was a struggle to keep my eyes open let alone walk without falling into the person next to me. Once we got of the plane my family and I headed towards the baggage pickup. Like I said before, it was LATE. My suitcase was blue with red polka dots, and it just so happens someone else returning from Hawaii on the SAME airplane has the SAME bag. When I saw mine coming down the chute I followed it around until I could find an open area to grab it and meet my family back at the front. As I was getting there, there were two people yelling at each other behind me. I turned to look for a minute or so and when I turned around I completely forgot about my bag and grabbed what I thought was mine. So once I got it I was heading over to our car. I stopped to get my extra headphones out (I lost the others on the plane) I unzipped it and I knew something was very wrong. I saw that these weren't my clothes. They were all black and goth and full of skulls. All of a sudden I felt a tap on my back and I turned around and I saw this guy there, dressed in all-black smoking a cigarette. i thought he was going to knock me out but no. He said" um… I think you have my bag". I was in shock handing it to him. I was so embarrassed but I gotta admit it was kinda funny seeing a goth person walking around with a polka dot suitcase.

Cheerios - by Joel

Cheerios are awesome. It does not take long to have them (meaning you don’t have to wait before you eat them) and they are the perfect shape, a circle! Also when you eat them they are just the right size so you don’t get too many in your mouth in one scoop, you get just the perfect bite of heaven. As well, when you pour the milk they don’t splash all over you and you don’t have to douse them in milk in order to get them to that right level of sogginess. They are whole grain so they are good for you but they don’t taste like it, because sometimes when you have to eat whole grain bread it doesn’t taste good. Your parents will buy them for you because they are good for you and they aren’t all sugary like other cereals. So next time that you are looking in the pantry for the breakfast that you are going to have, just remember that cheerios are the best option to have, because it is like a party in your (and my) mouth.
