Alpine Ski - by Martin and Dylan

Ski lengths usually range from a minimum of 165cm for slalom to only a minimum of 220cm for men's downhill. The decision to increase the minimum length of giant slalom skis by 10cm in 2012 led to heavy criticism from racers, in particular Ted Ligety, who went on to win the overall World Cup title. 10 alpine skiing events have been held at the Winter Olympics since 1988. They are downhill, slalom, giant slalom, Super G and Super Combined, each with a men's and women's category. In men’s downhill Austria’s Matthias Mayer got gold medal, Italy’s Christof Innerhofer got silver medal,Norway’s Kjetil Jansrud got bronze medal. In Men's Super Combined Slalom,Switzerland’s Sandro Viletta got gold medal. Croatia’s Ivica Kostelic got silver medal. Christof Innerhofer got another medal, a bronze this time. They all had stunning performances. Norway’s Kjetil Jansrud got gold medal, America’s Andrew Weibrecht got silver medal. And two bronze metals were given, one was to a Canadian named Jan Hudec. And another metal went to an American named Bode Miller.
